late night equations
Sometimes I wonder if it's the right way to be living. Honestly, I admire those students who go to class, take everything in, pay all that money do all the homework & study (something I've yet to figure out how to do) and live at the same time. Me? I do what I want to do and stay happy the best I can. All I know, is I'm the least happiest when I'm sitting at a desk, drolling the time away writing how to configure velocity and gravity or writing how to pick apart a piece of poetry and spending a shitload of money to do just that. And to what? I get alot of knowledge, and a piece of paper that says I somehow made it through and got by and something to put on a resume. I get satisfaction and a career that ultimetly is my dream, but along with that I get debt, and the unsurity of if it's what I really want.
Honestly, I've been thinking practically lately.
I'm almost 20. I anticipate myself being married and hopefully having a family sometime within the next six years. I can't say for sure that it's going to happen, but it's when I want to setlle down and it's important to me to do so.
My biggest, most important goal and practically only priority in life?
Be a good mom & a loving, supportive wife.
Not get my degree, not travel the world, not make millions, just do what God intended me to do and that's devote my life to giving selflessly to my husband, children & family while loving myself at the same time.
And honestly, I don't need a degree to do that. I do need a degree to teach, but here comes that logic card again.
Back to the whole life plan of having kids and a family, 6 years yada yada yada.
As much as I won't committ to being a complete stay at home mom, as two incomes are needed in most any family, it is important to stay at home with my family and fufill the duties of a wife and mother. I can still work a job, but honestly, teaching most likely isn't the most practical route. Here I am, working another 3 or 4 years to finish my degree when I will then be 24. Statistically, I'm likely to have kids before I'm thirty, and when that time comes, I will absoultely refuse to raise my children in daycare. SO what does $64,000 and 5 years of college get me? A few years teaching and then the next howevermuch time spent paying it off. Yah, when my family is sustainable enough, I could go back to teaching, but by then requirements will have changed and I'm stuck wondering if it's really what I want to do. You can say I'm overthinking it, but honestly, I feel like the pieces of the equation are coming together.
Yah, I want to gain new knowledge and I love some of my classes half of the time, but when it comes down to it, I'm never more then halfhappy with college, and I'm sure I never will be. I never had to work in high school, most of my grades were based on how much work I did in Sports and Student Council and mabye thats a big contributor to it...I'm just lazy.
Who's knows. I guess I'll sleep on it.
Know this though. I don't sleep on things long. I pack, tear the map up and start anew.
Oh dear.

Dallas
I absolutely cannot let myself do this anymore. Thinking I am smart enough is just not simply enough. I cannot talk my way out of an assignment anymore and I refuse to play sports again so I have nothing but myself to get me through it.
Stop partying, stop distracting, just fucking do it.
I'm going to fucking do this if it kills me, I AM SMART ENOUGH.

Well I kinda, maybe, sorta, GOT SOME LAST NIGHT!
Okay, so I did delete the last post, but I will say I've gotten some grasp to the subject.
We are consumed most by the things we cannot have.
I wanted him, because I cannot have him. We've already been up and down, and never really found resolutions to it, more so just letting time pass by before we start up our crazy ride again, and why the hell would I want to bring that into a relationship? He doesn't know what he wants with me? Peace, Buddy. You aint for me. Your a good lookin man, with a smile to die for and thoughts and a way of thinking that drives me...well...it just drives me. But for now, I think I'll just drive away.
Last night, btw, I drove to Portland to hang with someone who I believe is going to turn into one of my favorite, beautiful friendships. I'm going back on Saturday. No more news until I know more.
I also found out yesterday ( and blew a red light because of it ) that I got the RHA Secretary position! Not only do I get to indulge in my fetish for secretary work but I get to help plan social events! Another Bonus? It's paid and eliminates 2/3 of my housing costs.
I'm in love. I have alot to learn and it's time consuming, but I needed to start filling my need for involvement one way or another.
Time is love and I'm short on it.
Peace

recap.
I have to take a moment to post what I started working on this weekend but had no Internet to post.
Saturday:
Ugh and I wanna burn that feeling outta me.
I pulled into Tillamook a few hours ago and I thought when I left my lovely new home of Monmouth how sad I was to be returning already. It wasn’t until I pulled into Tillamook that I realized how nauseous the idea truly made me. I smelt the air and to no surprise it was not the manure that bothered me, rather the smell of an arrogant, vain, self-involved scandalous little hellhole that I used to label home. As said previously, I wanted to burn that feeling off of me like leprosy.
Why am I here you might ask? I have a radio interview on Monday and then a voiceover tomorrow. I also was going to hang out with my dear friend Dan tonight, but no such luck as he just disappeared. I was supposed to go there tonight but then he never called.
Hmmmmm. That’s all I have to say about that. So Here I sit in Tillamook, resting on my brothers couch, aero sweats and a western tee. My nephews are resting in the other room and Jerry & Sandra are getting ready to go out. My dear friend Moge and I had a splendid time at freddies tonight finding new products for T.W. and her vag problems and had coffee. I missed that girl. I came here right after as I wanted to see my babes before I put them to bed. I’m basking in the sounds of one of my favorite flicks, Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood. Man I love this MOVIE!
NOW:
That's all I got to before my brother and his wife erupted in an enormous fight; a fight so bad I couldn't handle it. I tried to distract my nephews who were awaken by the yelling, and then talk some sense into my brother. His wife is....over the top....and if I were married to her I would need someone to console me to so we had some good conversation in the garage. Then that crazy boy Kellon came over....ugh. What is with boys in Tillamook thinking they are more manly if they butt in and offer to kick someones ass? (Beating someone up was on the agenda that night for my brother) It's like they think they will grow a third nut or something...
Needless to say, I told him to get the hell of that property. He answered with "With all do respect maam, shut your fucking mouth". From that point I told him "With no respect, get the hell off this property before I report you for being drunk in public." He told my brother to hop in the truck and my brother laughed and said he wasn't getting in with him because Kellon was to drunk, and he proceeded to egg my bro on so I urged him to go driving if he wanted it so bad and to put his truck in a ditch WITHOUT my brother.
I saw him today, he was to drunk to remember me shoving him in truck, or when he tried to come back and I stood in the middle of the driveway disallowing him to come back. He smiled and gave me a hug and I told him he disgusted me. We're a lovehate him and I.
I ended up staying with my auntie that night; woke her up at one in the morning begging for a place to stay. There were friends I could have stayed with but chose not to for one reason or another. I was supposed to stay with someone before I ended up at my brother but it....urm...fell apart. Sad, I was looking forward to it.
It was a blessing in disguise however, I realized how much I missed my biggest fan. I can't thank God enough for that woman; next to my brother she's probably the 2nd most important person to me. Both of them care about me more then anyone else has ever shown me. We discussed life, I vented and cried about the pain my brother was feeling, moreso what my boys (my nephews) were going through or what they would be going through if they divorced. My nephews are my babes and I would do anything for them; I hated seeing them cry. Even more, I hated seeing my brother to a point of anger that he and I both agreed we would never show in front of our children, as our parents scarred us with it. I can only pray I don't ever reach that level when I have kids.
Sometimes I wonder if me not wanting to be someone (my parents) so badly...is enough. What if it's embedded somewhere in my DNA, my personality? What if since I wasn't raised with the morals, values, qualities I want to possess and strive to instill in myself...I won't have enough of them to pass on? What if I'm destined to be like them...?
Ugh, I'm reaching offtopic.
Anyways.
I loved seeing my Aunt. She's an angel. I also accidentally destroyed a pair of contacts by putting them in really expired solution. I woke up, put them in my eyes, my eyes slammed shut and refused to let me pull them out, and at that point I realized I was blind for a bit. I showered, did my hear and put makeup on all without eyes.
keep in mind I'm almost legally blind with out some type of corrective lens.
My aunt drove me to the radio station where I did my interview blind and she ran and got me some contacts. Lifesaver she is.
Oh yah, skipped a day, Sunday! I went out to Portland to work/finish my retirement video for ODPA. It's wonderful. I'm starting to get a little sad as it's approaching so quickly. I wish certain people could be there...oh well.
I got to see my dear friend Jordan to! He tried to tell me his cobalt (*cough* 4 cyl. *cough*) was better then my fusion. HA!!! We did a little shopping and he waited around until about an hour before I had to go to the Apple store. I missed him, he's always been there for me and we just grew apart over the last few months.
So I went to the Apple store hoping they could fix some of my problems with my malfunctioning phone. I was very sweet and smiled politely at my Apple Genius* and even though it was apparent I had beaten the SHIT outta my phone, they gave me a brand new one! They said they would only do it once though and I needed to take better care of my phone. They have the best customer service. While I waiting...I played Guitar Hero on the new Apple TV....I'm kinda wishing I had bought an Apple and not a Vaio, but I do love my pink computer (it's yet to be named).
hmmmm....what else...I need to do homework...BAD.
love you.

college life....
I've I rather like my roommates. Okay, well, I'm glad I didn't get girls who are more similar to me. I might be wasting my tuition dollars partying, drinking, going to events, etc. instead of doing my homework right now. I got allot done today and I'm very proud of myself. Most who know me know I live by the following:
"Do what you want. If you are scheduled to do something and REALLY want to do something else? Do it. Find a way out of the previous and live for what you want to do and will create the best memory. Live for what time you have at that age as you'll never get it back."
I've yet to find something really awesome to do around here, and havent made very many friends ( or any at all )so I'm not my normal social butterfly. I'm applying for a few dorky positions, RHA secretary and Judicial Board, to satisfy my dying need to be involved, and the friendships and crazy college times will have to come later.
I really have come to adore one of my roomies, the quiet reserved one. She reminds me allot of my sister in more ways then one. Scared to be yelled at, doesn't like conflict, blonde, creative, gives great hugs, really really sweet, has family issues (lol).
Anyways I'm off to do ES Homework, this class is SERIOUSLY going to kick my ass.
love you.
Shan
fuck
I'm logical, but ultimately heartbroken. I'm practical, but scared with every inch of me that I may not see his face every again. I understand, but I'm sick of the military's blatant disregard for families/loved ones. Not home for Christmas and now this? Fuck you. Fuck you.
That's all I feel I know how to say right now.
fuck this stupid fucking war and fuck you.
fuck you fuck you fuck you fuck you.
I fucking hate crying.

So I just finished up my first poetry class and she let us out about an hour early. I t was kind of nice as I woke up late. I actually woke up very early and then decided I was to cold to get out of bed and waited for my alarm to come ringing into my brain, reminding me of another day. Sadly, I fell back asleep after my alarm went off and woke up only 45 mins. before class. I jumped in the shower, threw my hair back in braids, and ran off to class. It's raining buckets here in Monmouth, I would venture to say more then in Tillamook. It also snowed for a little while last night. The weather in this town is BIPOLAR. I'm praying for better weather days.
Back to my poetry class. The teacher is...intense. She tells it like it is, emphasizes on how easy it is for her to fail you and the ways you can ease her into not doing so. Beyond her gruff first impression, we went over a few poems today and she really exposes some light to the literal and metaphorical meaning to each piece of writing; interpretations I never would have thought of. I'm thinking her and I could be a love/hate relationship. Love when she feeds me good poetry and exposes my eyes to unseen meanings of one of my favorite forms of literature and Hate when she kicks my ass and makes me work hard. We shall see, I have her again on Thursday.
Right now, I'm sitting in Academic Advising waiting for an Advisor. I'm a little concerned about my classes and how they apply to my major and need to find some sort of chart to explain to me what classes to take in the next few years. It's all so confusing!
Confusion is not only the "Word of the Day", but I'm feeling as if it will be the "Word of the Month". I'm cannot explain how cranky it has made me not being able to find buildings. I literally stopped at one point today, trying to find Academic Advising, and just looked around me and realized I had no idea which direction I was going. I finally tapped a short, stout student from one of my English classes and asked where I was and where I was going. I got directed to a building which then directed me to where I am now. I have decided it takes, on average, two different stops at two different buildings before you end up where you need to be.
After this I'm off to buy more sticky tack for my walls as my enormous dry erase board fell off the wall at around 2am this morning as well as everything below it. I also gotta pick up some WOU gear for Kyle so he can sport it proudly :). Then I need to activiate my ID as they didn't do it right the first time and then I will be able to eat food.
Somebody send me some mail to.
shit! they are here to help! Bye

Day One
My first class, Eng. Lit: Drama, ( and only class for Monday ) wasn't to bad. 35% of my grade is the midterm and 35% is the final, the rest a little note card project and discussions, so I'm thinking it's an easy "A". The thing I like best about my Drama class is the teacher believe in watching the plays, such as on movies or live, rather then reading them. She believes the playwrights meant for them to be seen and heard, not to be read aloud as we did say in high school. Tomorrow I have Earth Science and Eng.Lit: Poetry. I'm fairly excited for the Poetry class; as a state competitor in the subject, I'm hoping it will contribute to another quick "A'. I also got my room more put together. I had dinner with Jake and now here I sit with a quart of milk ( my comfort drink) preparing to do some reading for a class. I'm so exciting I know. Truth is, I'm a bit exhausted from being overwhelmed. But I'll be back to my normal energetic self in no time, I know it.
Things I learned Today:
*Don't put rice in the stirfry cooker/maker thingy. The chef guy gets really mad.
*The Staff, those who help you get all the things mentioned in paragraph one, well....only like 1 in 3 is nice and no matter how you smile at them and wish them a good day, they still glare at you.
*I missed Milk
*When the lights go out to watch a movie in Drama class, there are still those kids who snicker at naked body parts. Higher Education does not eliminate them. Le Sigh.
I'm going to go do some reading, love you.

And so it begins..
[[ and I mean BRAVED, neither one of us could counter steer to save our lives]] and moved me to Monmouth OR to start my term tomorrow at WOU. It took me absolutely FOREVER to move everything in as consolidating from a house to a dorm is unbelievably hard, but I have eventually found a spot for everything. Thank goodnessfor Jonny coming over to help us move the boxes in the rain or we would have been there all day.
I'm in the dorm entitled "Gentle"; cliche...much? I'm on the waiting list for the Arbor Park Apartments or at the very least the new Arby Hall. This dorm makes me think of a 70's themed bomb shelter, complete with the feeling of it being the last place I ever want to be. It's all cement and the bathroom is SO retro. It feels very cold and lifeless and stinks of Kitty from that 70's show. I'm in desperate need of some sticky tack or something to put some decor up. The only poster I've yet to get up is is my "Porque Luchamos???" (why do we fight?) protest sign from South America. (thanks C.A!)My roomies (that's right, I have two, 3 beds in one room) have been here since fall term and have yet to put up a single decoration. There is some Shakespeare posters and I think a frog calender, but that's about it. I told them I would be doing some massive redecorating or else my mood was going to suck. My home is my castle and my castle needs color and life. Please send me some color.
Speaking of roommates, I'm pretty sure they got my questionnaire mixed up with somebody elses because I am about the FARTHEST possible personality match from them. Allow me to elaborate:
Roomie One: Is slightly, I want to say, neurotic, but I've yet to confirm that. She wears flowy clothing, likes Shakespeare, absolutely does NOT drink, sleeps with earplugs and a healthy does of Trazadone, watches online movies and TV shows all day (loves them sitcoms), and is generally pretty quiet. She educated me on the importance of not burning candles or drinking as it is strictly prohibited :)
Roomie Two: Is TO MUCH. Oh emgee the Lord WILL test my patience with her. To start off, she's much louder then me and obnoxious to boot. I'm not talking the playful prank here & there type of obnoxious like say....me...but more so...childish. She has an obsession with frogs and saying curse words every few seconds with complete attention seeking intent. Sort of screams "I'm trying to be a badass". She "hates" her ex boyfriends and has professed one tried to kill him self over her and quite a few of them are still madly in love with her...but don't worry, she's got a keeper now, and they will be married in 2010. She complains that she never made Varsity Cheer (coach said is was something about her maturity hmm...) and brags that she tried drugs all her senior year. She also cannot pronounce her "R's" but insists it's an authentic Jersey accent but can't figure out why only her and her sister have it...and they've never been to Juuurrrrzzeee.
Oh yeah, she wants to be a teacher. Parents, be weary of who will be teaching YOUR third grader.
Her voice is so loud all the time, it makes my head hurt and I've told her not to interrupt me several times already, as she constantly wants to know things, but never lets me get my point across. Maybe God is giving me a real-life lesson in patience so I can better apply it to my classroom someday.
I will try my best.
Tomorrow is a new day and I will be out and about getting my ID card, books, working on financial aid, doing a bit more organizing, and attending my first class at 4:00. Wish me luck! I'll try to get around to posting some pictures.
Love/Shan
Something I Learned Today: Hard A is prohibited from being sold in Monmouth. It's Dry Captain.
