A plan.

I am so impatient.

I just want happiness, financial stability, love, marriage, babies, crazy life stories, friendships...to all just fall into place.

I adore looking at my cousins/friends, married and planning their life, getting big cute houses, making babies...

but surely I love the crazy club hopping, concert going, spontaneity of my current life...

Such impatience. Some day I'll learn to trust that God has a plan...a plan with a timeline.

Agh.

Much love

Seether

HoeMan. That concert on Thursday night was AMAZING. In all the concerts I've been too, I must say...that was probably one of the best, hands down.

I ended up taking this rockin' girl named Kaitlyn I met at the coffee shop. Shaun had to practice with his band for next weeks show but it worked out great anyway. Usually when you take a guy to a concert, they worry about you too much, and I hold my own in the pit thankyah.

I picked Kait up at High Point, got some cash & gas and we were on our way. Kait is one of those drivers who I pass angrily on the road due to her inability to speed, so my driving scared her a little, but she got through it. I admit, I expected the venue to be in the city, but it ended up being in the middle of no where. Right on the great Salt Lake and next to the Salt Flats...this was our venue.

Looks like the Taj-Mahal right?
It's seriously crazy. What it was built for, the destruction, the continuous usage...read up on it here.

Interesting isn't it?

We got there 30 mins. early only to be backed into the street with cars and men selling t-shirts car to car. A New York accented man tried to sell me an authentic tour tshirt but sadly their smallest size would have engulfed me. He said "Sahrey Sweeethart!" and moved on.

We finally made it up to parking and as always I ignored where they directed me to go and parked up front. I refuse to have Kait & I park in the way back and walk out to my car at midnight. It's just not safe.

We figured out what we could keep in our pockets and got in line to patted down.

My lady was friiiiissssky.

Once inside,I was overwhelmed by how absolutely AWESOME this place was. Packed front to back, it was indeed a music Taj Mahal. I got a Seether tshirt and we ventured out to make it to the front.

This is where we started at. Sad huh?

Now I usually show up at concerts alot earlier so I can get a good spot without having to be rude, but I did have to work that day, so some shoving was to be done. With Kaitlyn holding my hand, we snuck up some open side spaces and I convinced the Security Guard to pop us over the side fence towards the front. Once there, we "excuse me" 'd our way up to about 4 people from the front.

Rec Thoery, the opening band, then started to play.Honestly, I liked them alot. I've downloaded a few of their songs and it wasn't bad for an opening band. A really tall man was blocking Kait & I's view so with a sweet smile I gave him a back scratch and asked if we could move in front of him to see better. He smiled back and let us.

3 spaces from the front.

Rec Theory was still playing and a guy in front of me started to mosh.

One more back scratch later and some convincing that he would surely knock me over if a pit started, and Kait and I were 2 spaces from the front.

Call me manipulative, but I refuse to pay for a concert and not be front row.

From this point it was all about squeezing in between someone to get up on the gates that separated the band from us. The two girls I was eyeing to get between really looked as if they shouldn't be up against the gate anyway. I told them that once Seether came on, they were sure to be crushed against the gate. They laughed and said they'd be okay but I knew they'd be pointing in the air soon to give Security the signal to pull them out.

So here Kait & I stood, myself squeezed inbetween the two girls front row and Kait behind me. Rec Thoery pumped everyone up and now it was time for Flyleaf.

Holey Moley, I've never seen such a petite woman rock so hard. I had never put Flyleaf to any of it's songs, but she was fantastic. I'd recommend downloading some of their music. As much as she could let out a mean screamo voice now and then, inbetween songs she would toss our water bottles in hopes of keeping everyone hydrated. About three songs in she told every male in the room to turn to the females around them and treat them like we were their sisters...and to protect us.

Here's some footage.

Flyleaf finished and down dropped a semi-transparent white curtain over the stage. I had been making small-talk with security all night and I pulled one my way to get info on when that curtain would drop. He told me about a quarter till and I noticed the security was starting to lineup. I turned around to find the place was packed.

My ribs were already hurting form being pushed against the gate, but it was well worth the spot.
Security came by with Water in red plastic cups and we all opened out mouths to be poured some hydration. Water all over the face and loved it...no aim I tell ya....

Alot of small talk with security, the people around me, and assuring the two girls next to me they were going to be moshed to death when Fake It came on, and I saw Seether walk about.

And then, a light on a long long string dropped down and swung back and forth until the lead singer (Shuan Morgan) appeared. It was a little eerie, the swinging flickering ligh above his head, surrounded in a white curtain....I loved it. Then the curtain dropped and the screen behind them illuminated with imagesof numbers and it was a countdown to the first riff.

The crowd went flippin nuts.
They were absolutely amazing. Really brought to light why they are my favorite band...ever. Their new guitarist wasn't bad either. He was always on my side of the stage and I was constantly propping myself on the gate to reach out to him. Unbelievable I caught his eye once and the next time he came to my side of the stage he tossed a guitar pic rick at me! I missed. Sadly.

But crazy enough... later in the show...I caught his eye again! No Flipping Way right? I get goosebumps just typing about it right now. And he did it again....tossed a guitar pic...same section...right towards my outstretched hand and smiled. I got the look from people in the crowd like "No way did he just toss that to you?!" It landed right in front of my finger tips below the gate and that security gaurd I had been conversing with grabbed it, my hand, and gave it to me.

It was....phenomenal...

I can still picture that smile...nothing like getting a look from a rockstar.....

Oh Geeze....Oh Man....crazy!

Next was Fake it and as I was sure my ribs were breaking, someone started to push really hard against me. I gave them a large push back which helped in starting a pushing-mosh-match. Those girls next to me made it awhile, but at that pointed up towards the ceiling which gave the Security Gaurds the cue to pull them out. Kait exited as well and I pulled two people I had made friends with into the open spots. I rocked to the point of exhaustion and bruised ribs.

They played and amazing show...brought back to me why I loved concerts so much.

Just that whole feeling of music SCREAMING and RIPPING it's way through the whole body, my lungs and eardrums reverberating against the sounds, feeling the music like you wrote it yourself, screaming your lungs out and trashing to the sound...it's love..it's a passion.

When they left, I tried to get the guard to pop me over the front to exit easier, but my smooth talking was out of luck and I got a hug and a no way. I was then on a hunt to find Kait. She eventually appeared, and I was ecstatic. I was worried someone had taken her away and I proudly flashed my guitar pic. We took a few more pictures and embraced our natural high's all the way to the car where we screamed, yelled, and loved the feeling of an amazing concert.

Afterwords, I told Kait how happy I was to finally have a girlfriend in Utah, dropped her off, hung out with Shaun and the band (www.myspace.com/unknownanthem) for a bit and went home.

All in all.... calling in sick the next day to work... and ribs that looked like this the next morning...

was well worth it for the smile that tossed me this...
I moshed, I crowd surfed, I screamed, I rocked, I felt.
Nothing is worth more then remembering a forgotten passion...live shows :)

Fourteen Reasons Why I Might Say No

As I'm approaching one full year of ridiculous single-ness, I'm just about sick of being approached by what I delicately call..."Winners". Call me a snob, but I'm thinking about making a t-shirt or something. You know, one that says...

Fourteen Reasons Why I Might Say No.

1. If you’ve never had a real relationship, we probably won’t either.

2. I cannot, will not, be in any way interested in an absolute Stoner or Alcoholic. There is no excuse for daily pot smoking and I don’t care if it helps you relax. Do Yoga. And Medical? Not interested.

3. Accountability is a must. If you can’t show up/call or are notorious for something “coming up” or being forgetful…do a girl a favor and do the usual…forget it.

4. If your car does not get from your house to mine, or you don’t have one to even begin with…find a car salesmen…not a date. Chicks dig the rigs buddy…and dependability

5. Oh, and if you don’t have that house to come from? Or are mid-twenties and still living with parents…please…stay home. Mom might begin to worry anyway.

6. If for some reason your phone has been shut off, your credit cards maxed out, car’s been repossessed, or any other indication of continuous stupid financial decisions…you are probably not that responsible guy I’m looking for.

7. Don’t have a job? Don’t have a date.

8. If you can’t take care of your body, you really can’t take care of yourself. Please don’t ask me out if you are unsure of how to shave, not eat yourself to death, workout, or get a flippin hair cut. Check off Hygiene and Health before you ask someone out.

9. Engaging in a personable conversation with me is great. In fact, I love finding people who are as eager to talk about Oregon as I am. However, you don’t need to actually verbally ask an Oregonian if our “Pot” is as good as the rumors say it is.
Google it
.

10. Don’t use pick up lines!
Waiter: “You have such beautiful eyes, do you get told that?”
Shannon: “Oh, uh, no. But thank you, that’s very sweet”

(Wait for it….)

Waiter: “Are those your eyes? Or are they contacts?”
Shannon: “Um, these are my own eyes…heh”
(Waiter walks off)

(Waiter come back with food)
Waiter: “Miss, I just have to tell you….they should make contacts outta those eyes”
Shannon
: *awkward smile*

11. Serious Inquires Only. Please know, that if you are asking me out, have good intentions. Let’s face it, not everyone is going to be right for each other. But please, understand that my kisses are worth then some movie or date and are given at my discretion…not yours. Don’t jump my face and if you think you are going to “Get Some”…you’re funny…and delusional. Simply put, what needs you have are none of my concern.

12. On a more serious note, I am interested in having a future with someone, and having a family. And with that said, when that right person comes along, I’m fairly set in what morals & values will be part of that family. In that interest, Atheists, Satanists, Agnostics…those who don’t worship God…need not apply. We can be friends, but it simply won’t work in the long run. Also, as much as I love what Mormon friends and family I have, I don’t date Mormon’s.

13. Commenting on what I like to call “The Bathing Suit Areas” is raunchy, and keep in mind I wear a one-piece! Great smile maybe? You look nice? Sheesh, let’s have some creativity!

14. Don’t put the moves on me. I’m a forward girl, and most likely if I want you to touch me in any way…you’ll know. No touchie.

Geeze. I'm a snob, I know.

New profile song, friend's band.

Seeing Seether tomorrow night and not Saturday.

Mucho Love

Highlights & Duckies

Uninspired. Still.

But I thought I would share some photos.

I did chop my hair and highlight it. The guy who did it, did it wonderfully. I hate it only because I was stupid to choose blonde. It will change. But here is a peak.
BEFORE
(This was 30 min before I chopped it. Long huh? Sigh. Miss it.)

After (6 inches shorter, highlighted)

My hair decided to have it's first curly day since I moved to this absolutely moistureless awful altitude, but this was taken a few hours after I got my hair done. It's doesn't look so bad in house lighting...because you can't really see the highlights, but all and all it's just not me. Here's some
ones that are worse picture quality (from the phone) but show the highlights.

I'm ready to ditch it. My stylist did a great job, I just don't think it's very me...lightens me up to much. But there you go pesky family in Oregon, you can see it now. No more text please?

So I don't have much else to say. But I did want to note that yesterday I started to blog early in my workday. I was having an awful Monday. I woke up really overwhelmed with the world and honestly, I felt sick. I'm not one to stress the big things in life, finances, work, moving...it's all going to work out right? I instead sweat the small things. Yesterday I was attacked by both as soon as I woke up...I felt like I was going to vomit. Not worrying about things for awhile I guess will do that. My day got better when I took lunch, but I assume it was just an amazingly bad case of anxiety. All in all, I hope I never feel that way again. I can't remember another time I felt so upset and overwhelmed as soon as I woke up. It was....yucky.

Anyways.

At lunch time, I sped out of the parking lot in need of speed & fresh air. As I was driving I saw something I had neglected to take a picture of a few days before.

Ducks.

Yep.

Utah randomly has ducks in the strangest places. Not ponds or water holes, but in random small patches of grass and often the road. The other day they were even walking in a straight duck line outside my office window (there is no grass or water there). I decided today was the day I was going to stop and finally take that picture. They even let me feed them.

Oh man, I love ducks. Next to manatees and penguins...they are in my top three favorite animals. :)

I love them. They made me feel better.

Go Duckies.

Night.

Inspiration

So I've neglected posting for a few days.

I can't post at work and when I get home I'm often so tired that I don't want to open up my laptop and type.

Though honestly, it's quite frustrating to me, that when I'm driving down the road or buried in work, I become inspired to be opinionated by some issue or inspired by some small aspect in my life...and I'm no where near a pen or a keyboard...or distracted by those silly road laws.

Curses. I think I'm going to go home. Be inspired by laundry.

OH!

Abbie, no pictures of the hair yet, I've decided I hate it.

I'm going back in a few days to change it. It's much too blondie for me.

Soon!!

Shawty Got Her Hair Did....

lol.

Yeah. I bit the bullet and got highlights and about 6 inches off.

I think I still hate it, but it will fade. Everyone else likes it...I'll get used to it. He did a great job.

In other news, I'm seeing Seether this weekend. Woot.

"Would you please stop talking to me?"

And of course, my fear of the Dentist is no less then it used to be. It’s sickeningly pathetic for me to be afraid of something so trivial, but I can’t help it. I was shaking the whole way to the office and almost in tears when I laid down in the chair. Even the mere thought of my teeth being touched makes me shake and take a break from whatever I’m doing; you can imagine my hysterics when I stepped in and smelt the office. I tried to distract my fear in the a Victoria Secret’s catalog, but the office was too quick and drug me back to the torture chamber. I sat in the chair and the Asst. asked me politely what was the matter…did my nails dug into the death seat or the absolute freakish nervous bouncing of my feet and legs give it away? She had previously saw one of my back piercings poking out and commented on how much it must have hurt. I told her I would rather have gotten those piercings all the way down my spine, in one day, consecutively, then be sitting in that chair; I meant it. I bit down on the disgusting cardboard and took the x-rays, fully realizing It was going to be bad news. Next came the hygienist who informed me that though I brush twice a day, there was major cleaning to do as I had avoided the Dentist for more then two years. I was to expect my appt. to last longer then the expected 45 min.

Just had to stop again to suppress shivers. Agh!

The scraping, cleaning, poking, jabbing, bleeding…took and hour and a half.

And then, hah, then the Dentist actually came in. He told me I needed two root canals, my wisdom teeth pulled, and some surgery to remove the extra molars I was born with.

BTW, thanks mom for getting that fixed when I was supposed to have it fixed.

Lazy flippin’ parents…everyday your crappy parenting and negligence costs me more and more money!

My Dentist commented on how nice and tan my skin was, offered some ideas about getting my teeth fixed, and soon was gone. He did ask if I always responded in head nods and if it was rare that I spoke actual words. I informed him I only opened my mouth at the Dentist if it was demanded upon and absolutely necessary. Stupidly, he asked if I was afraid of coming to his office. Sincerely, I told him there was nothing more except natural disasters and death that I could think of that truly terrified me more.

In the end, I found out I need about 6000.00 in dental work. Needless to say, there goes all the nice things I wanted to do to my car. Now I get to spend that cold hard cash on hours of *shiver* drill time.

The Hygienist also suggested some braces and whitening for the small amount of crookedness I have in my front teeth. I told her I was happy with my smile and she proceeded to tell me I would be much happier with that smile if I got braces and whitening. After going through two hours of hell I had been putting off for TWO years I rudely (I admit, I was definitely rude) let her know she had no right to predict my happiness over my smile or try to make me feel bad about it’s current condition. I love my smile and she got an earful of that. Trying to get the last word in, she noted she still thought I would be happier in the end. I looked at her, in disbelief, unsure of what to say to such blatant ignorance, and simply...smiled. I smiled as big as I could and politely asked her (with my large, beautiful smile):

“Would you please stop talking to me?”

She scowled and walked away.

I saw my Dentist on the way out and I asked him if I truly needed braces and he said it was unnecessary unless I was really upset about my slight crookedness. I commented that his hygienist sure did and to note on my record that I did not want her near my teeth with any sharp object next time I came in, thanked him and left.

I don’t know how much commission you make on a pair of metal mouth fitters lady, but I hope next time you stick your hands inside someone’s mouth…THEY FLIPPIN BITE YOU!

I cried sporadically the whole way home thinking about two full hours of my teeth being touched. I can’t help it, the thoughts make me really upset. It’s a really irrational fear, considering I love spider, snakes, heights and public speaking, but I can’t change it.

Moving on, I was to late coming back to conduct a team-building activity so it’s moved again to next Tuesday.

On an ending note, I was beginning to think there was very few left who read my blog. It didn’t bother me really, I write for my own sanity, but it was definitely a thought in my head. But while catching up with 5 or 6 friends over the last few days, I heard a lot of them quote from my blog!

“Oh, is he the ‘CuteDense Boy?”

“Wait, aren’t you getting Baptized in the Summer?”

“Oh BTW, I love your families Easter traditions!”

“How’s the purse?!”

It’s just nice to know people do want to stay caught up on my life as much as I do on theirs.

Love you guys.

One more thing…the blog… the one two below this one? It’s a good thing, don’t worry. Yesterday was closure and confirmation to feelings I had for someone who was never going to want them, regardless of what he said. It’s a freedom I’m embracing and I’m not sad. I've been “dangled on a string” for a bit now, and it’s nice to be cut free.

So stop with the worrisome phone calls, I’m okay loves.<3>

Love you.

Shannon
